In worship we come together to pray, listen, sing, reflect, praise, ponder, enact, lament, discover, connect – with one another and with the Holy at the centre of life, the one we have come to call God.
Our MISSION STATEMENT says it all:
As followers of Jesus, we cultivate space where everyone has room to grow;
we share God’s hope for the Earth.
At St. Albert United Church our mission is about cultivating space for everyone.
We believe that Jesus calls us to create space where people of diverse ages, backgrounds, languages, experiences, cultures, abilities, gender identities, sexual orientations, spiritualities, theologies and ideas can all find a spiritual home.
Our mission is about growth.
We believe that as Jesus challenged his disciples to recognize that the reign of God had come near, inviting them to wake up and see the world with new eyes, we too are called to grow as individuals and as a community. We are called to grow in love and in wisdom. We are called to grow spiritually, emotionally, physically and intellectually. And so we focus on sharing meaningful worship, providing opportunities to grow in prayer, and offering formational and educational ministries with children, youth, adults and seniors. We are pleased to host many exercise programs and 12 step groups,and to be a place where community groups can gather.
Our mission is also about sharing God’s hope for the Earth.
We believe that being a follower of Jesus means putting his teachings into practice in the world, which means being people of compassion and love, not just in the church on a Sunday, but every day, and for all the Earth, for the human family, and for non-humans as well.
So we are called to reach out with love and a desire for social and environmental justice locally in the communities of St. Albert, Sturgeon County and Northwest Edmonton, and globally as well.
